Eligibilities Determination:

To be considered for financial aid, you must generally meet the following minimum requirements.

  • Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen. An eligible non-citizen is a U.S permanent resident who has documentation from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) verifying that his/her stay in the U.S. is for other than a temporary purpose
  • Show financial need
  • Make Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in a course of study leading to an AA or AS degree, certificate, or transfer to a baccalaureate degree program
  • Not be in default on any loans such as Federal Perkins Loans, Federal Stafford Loans (subsidized and unsubsidized), Federal Direct Loans (subsidized and unsubsidized), SLS Loans (Supplemental Loans for Students), or FPLUS Loans (Parental Loans for Undergraduate Students) at any school attended
  • Not owe a refund on a Federal Pell Grant Program, Federal Supplemental Educational Grant (FSEOG) or State Student Incentive Grant (SSIG)
  • Be registered with the Selective Service if required to do so
  • Be enrolled as a regular student in an eligible program
  • Have a valid Social Security Number
  • Meet one of the academic qualification requirement below

Academic Qualification Requirement:

  • Received a high school diploma; or
  • Passed a high school proficiency exam; or
  • Received a certificate of General Education Development (GED); or
  • Successfully completed a two-year program (minimum 48 units) that is acceptable for full credit toward a bachelor's degree. You may be admitted on the basis that has the recognized equivalent of a high school diploma; or
  • Completed homeschooling at the secondary level.

Ability to Benefit:

If you did not meet the above Academic Qualification Requirement maybe qualify for Title IV student aid under one of the ability-to-benefit (ATB) alternatives if you were enrolled in a Title IV eligible program prior to July 1, 2012.

  • Passed a Department-approved ability-to-benefit test; or
  • Satisfactorily completed six credits of college work that are applicable to a degree or certificate offered by the school.
