Disqualification:

• Students who do not meet the standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress policy are disqualified and become ineligible for financial aid.

Re-establishing eligibility for financial aid:

1. Students may regain eligibility when there is a determination that the student is again meeting the qualitative and quantitative standards (please refer to the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy).


2. Students who feel they were disqualified due to extraordinary circumstances may submit an appeal in writing to the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office. Examples of extraordinary circumstances:
   
   • Personal illness or injury
   • Death of a family member
   • Other unusual hardships causing the student’s lack of success

Appeal Process:

• To appeal your denial of financial aid due to fail to meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy, you must:
  
  • submit a written (typed) explanation of your academic situation, please include any action plans to change the situation
  • attach supporting documentation
  • Meet with a Academic Counselor to complete a Student Educational Plan

Upon receipt of the request, the Financial Aid Administrator or designee shall consider the appeal. The result of the appeal will be provided to the student in writing within 30 calendar days from the appeal submission date.

If the appeal is denied, or the student fails to submit the appeal within 30 calendar days from the last day of the enrollment period of the award year, the student may re-appeal after completing one semester with his/her own resources and meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress standards. (i.e., enrolled in 6 units or more and completed all courses with a grade of "C" or better).
